Uzbekistan marked the Day of Memory of Victims of Repressions on 31 August. President Islam Karimov participated in the memorial event at Shahidlar Khotirasi memorial complex. The complex, which stands on the bank of Bozsu river in Tashkent, was created as a tribute to the memories of the compatriots, who gave their lives for the freedom of their country. This place also calls on the young people to value and protect their sacred land and its independence. |

Celebrations of the 19th anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan were held on 31 August at Alisher Navoi National Park in Tashkent.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited Bukhara on 30 August, where he got acquainted with the newly built Bukhoro Madaniy Markazi (Bukhara Cultural Center) complex.
